América vs. Pachuca, confirmed matchup in the Quarterfinals
Los Tuzos eliminated Rayados and will face América in the 2025 Clausura Quarterfinals.
Pachuca defeated Monterrey in the Play-In bracket by a score of 1-2 at the BBVA Stadium and became América’s opponent in the 2025 Clausura Quarterfinals. This rivalry has a history in favor of Los Tuzos in the Liguilla, with five wins for the Hidalgo team and only two for the Águilas.
This Sunday, another Clausura 2025 quarterfinal bracket was decided. Pachuca defeated Monterrey, and América will face Los Tuzos in the first round of the Liguilla. Toluca, the overall leader of the competition, will await the winner of the final Play-In bracket between Rayados and Pumas.
This will be the eighth time América and Pachuca have faced each other in a knockout round in the history of Mexican soccer. Los Tuzos have a history of winning against the Águilas five times, compared to just two for the Azulcremas.
Of the seven times they have met in the Liguilla, four of them have been in the Quarterfinals, where they will meet again in the 2025 Clausura. In that round, each team has two wins, after América emerged victorious in the 2012 Clausura and 2024 Clausura, while Los Tuzos won the 2015 Clausura and 2021 Clausura.
The remaining three matches have gone to Pachuca. The Tuzos defeated América in the semifinals of the 2001 Summer and 2022 Clausura tournaments, as well as in the final of the 2007 Clausura, marking the Hidalgo team’s fifth title.
